Instructions for correct use of Microcore® hot and cold pack elements

Microwave Heating Instructions:

Remove the Microcore® element pack from its fabric cover. Place it in a clean microwave oven being careful that it does not touch the sides of the microwave. Heat for 2 minutes and 30 seconds to 3 minutes and 45 seconds, depending upon the wattage of your microwave. Refer to your microwave manual for its wattage rating to determine the appropriate heating time. If you do not have the manual, contact the microwave manufacturer. If you are still unsure which heat time to use, start with the shorter time and gradually increase to the recommended heat time.

Hot Water Heating Instructions:

Find a pot large enough to fit the element pack so that it to lies completely flat when fully immersed in water. If you do not have the proper sized pot, do not heat your element using this method.

Begin with the element out of the pot. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Remove the pot from the heat source and allow it to stop boiling. Using kitchen tongs, gently place the element pack in the hot water and leave for 15 minutes. Using the tongs, remove the element from the hot water and place in its fabric cover. Be careful. The element pack will be hot.

Freezing or Chilling Instruction

Remove the Microcore® element pack from its fabric cover. Depending upon how cold you want it, place it flat in the refrigerator or freezer for at least six hours or overnight. Remove carefully. The element is colder than 32 degrees when removed from the freezer. DO NOT apply directly to your bare skin after removing from the freezer as frostbite can occur. DO NOT apply the element directly to your skin for extended periods of time. Rinse with warm water to remove any ice accumulated on the outside of the element prior to use. For best results place the element flat in your freezer. Insert frozen element with MICROCORE logo facing the front of A Better Back™.

Warnings

FAILURE TO READ THE WARNINGS AND TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO EACH USE COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE PRODUCT AND PERSONAL INJURY. STORAGE & CARE WARNINGS: Your Microcore® pack, called an "element", should be stored flat in a cool, dry place where it will not be damaged.

   - DO NOT store the element in a folder or twister manner.

   - DO NOT expose the element to prolonged periods of sunlight, which can cause the packaging to deteriorate. Although the contents are non-toxic, DO NOT store the element in reach of small children or near pets. The internal contents of the element are not for human consumption.

   - DO NOT clean the element with any chemicals or household cleaners. Use only mild soap and water.

General Usage Warnings: Remove the element from the fabric cover, if supplied with one or purchased separately, and thoroughly inspect the element for signs of wear and tear, permanent creases, rips and tears, puncture marks, leakage, or discoloration BEFORE EACH USE. An element with any sign of wear and tear, permanent creases, rips and tears, puncture marks, leakage or discoloration SHOULD NOT BE USED and should be immediately discarded.

The element SHOULD NOT BE USED by or applied to small children without continuous adult supervision and observation. Never apply the element to a child directly from the microwave, hot water or freezer. Heating and reheating should always be done by a competent adult.

Heating Warnings:Your element is designed to be heated in a clean microwave or in hot water only.

DO NOT attempt to heat or reheat the element by any other means.

DO NOT expose the element to open flames as the packaging will melt and may catch fire.

DO NOT heat element in a dirty microwave as any leftover food particles or grease may cause Hot Spots which will damage your element.

DO NOT attempt to microwave a frozen element. Allow the element to completely thaw to room temperature prior to heating.

DO NOT attempt to defrost or thaw the element using a microwave.

DO NOT microwave the element inside a fabric cover as it is important to observe the element during the entire heating process.

DO NOT allow the element to touch the sides of the microwave while heating as damage to the element may occur.

DO NOT attempt to heat or reheat more than one element at a time.

DO NOT leave the element unattended while heating.

DO NOT attempt to immediately remove the element from the microwave if the element expands (SWELLS-UP) during the heating process. Wait until the element has cooled down and the swelling has subsided before attempting to remove the element. If the element expands or leaks fluid during the heating process DISCONTINUE USE and call the toll free number to order a new one.

DO NOT heat or reheat the element beyond the recommended times. Overheating the element can cause damage to the element and may result in personal injury.
Be careful when taking the element out of the microwave because it will be HOT. While wearing oven mitts or using an appropriate size cloth to cover both hands, remove the element gently from the microwave while supporting its entire length.

DO NOT squeeze the element or let one end hang unsupported when removing it. Allow the element to sufficiently cool before applying to your skin. Avoid using the element around sharp objects which may result in a puncture.

DO NOT heat the element in water that is boiling. If using the hot water method to heat the element, remove the pot from the heat source and allow sufficient time for boiling to stop before placing the element in the water.

DO NOT use a pot that is undersized to heat the element. The element packaging could melt if allowed to touch the exposed portions of the pot and cause damage to the product.

DO NOT drop the element into hot water or use your hands to place the element in the hot water as this may result in personal injury. The element should be gently lowered into the hot water using kitchen tongs.

DO NOT remove the element from the water with your bare hands as the element and water will be HOT. The element should be gently removed from the hot water using kitchen tongs to lightly grasp the element. Allow the element to sufficiently cool before applying to your skin.

DISPOSAL WARNINGS: Your element has a limited lifespan and cannot be used indefinitely. Your element should be disposed of after three (3) years from the date of purchase from the manufacturer, after three-hundred (300) number of heatings per instructions, or if demonstrating wear and tear or damage, whichever occurs first. The packaging and internal contents of your element are non-toxic and can be disposed of along with your regular refuse.
